I listen to lots of music. My favourite style is rap/hip-hop. Im not the plastic kind of rap fan who only found it thanks to Eminem's mass appeal and has no idea about anything previous. I was listening to N.W.A., Ice T and Ice Cube way back in 1990 and wearing massive heavy "British Knights" trainees. Anyone remember those? In all my time listening to different artists through different genres, I have never been so impressed be anyone as Big Pun. His immense vocabulary and extraordinary breath control made his rap clever, quick and amusing. This combined with his unique sound, which was probably helped by his enormous size, and his brilliant Puerto Rican influenced beats just stand out for me as the complete package.

Big Pun, real name Christopher Lee Rios sadly died in 2000 at the age of 28 due to a heart attack brought on by obesity. He was around 600lb at the time of his untimely demise. Like another of the very best, Notorious B.I.G., his best work was released posthumously and Yeah Baby is a fantastic glimpse of an immense talent lost. I hope you might take the time to find and listen to some of his work.

This is my small tribute to someone who's incredible genius has entertained me lots.

Rest in peace Pun.

Pun in front of a mural of him. Note the Puerto Rican bandana.

A 60' long 15' high memorial mural for Pun. One of many painted in the Bronx after his death. Look closely and notice the steel roller shutter.

Another massive Pun mural. Bottom right is "Liza" Puns wife.
