A picture is worth a 1000 words, or at least that's what I overheard once in a comic book store.

This is me, twice!

This is probably the bravest page I have put up here because my weight is the biggest cause of embarrassment and unhappiness in my life, except for the time I shit my pants but that's another story.

I am fat. Technically I am obese although I have never really felt that big.

I have suffered for all of my life with the stigma that is attached to overweight people. It is obvious to the layperson that from one quick glance that I am a weak willed or lazy person who is incapable of restraint and stuff my face with chocolate and lard all day.
Really think, haven't you thought this about someone? I have.

In fact, certainly in my case, that couldn't be much further from the truth. I'm a keen sportsman and maintain a fairly high level of fitness. I have a resting heart rate of 62. I have also followed a low fat calorie controlled diet for years.
Despite this I have been getting about a stone heavier every year for the last 6 or 7 years.

Well I believe I have found the answer. I would like to share it here for 3 reasons.

Firstly if I put it here then I have an extra incentive to keep going and an excuse to keep updating the site

Secondly I want to spread the word of the Atkins plan. This site has a fair number of visitors and I hope it helps others improve their lives

Finally an extra incentive for ladies replying to my advert. Win Bobster

So here are the stats:
Start: 6th January                    Weight: 289lb
Latest: 25th August                 Weight: 226lb
Loss so far                                              63lb
Target                                                    196lb

Apart from the obvious health benefits from losing nearly 7 stone I really cant begin to describe how much better I feel on this diet. I get to eat plenty and never feel hungry. I am more active and have more energy. My confidence is better. I'm more alert. Best of all in my little world, I'm a better Goalkeeper.

I have followed the "low fat" diets rigidly for years without any success and I urge anyone who has been through the pain and, ultimately, failure of these type of diets to give the Atkins diet a go. I recommend you read "New diet revolution" before beginning, however you wont believe a word of it! How can a diet that lets me eat cheese, butter, cream, and any meat, even sausages in almost limitless quantities make you lose weight? Well it does and for the first time in my adult life I expect to reach my ideal weight. Hooray!
